The Chiropractic Approach - Natural and Holistic

Chiropractic is a gentle, natural, holistic method of care. We do not use drugs or surgery as we believe the body has its own innate ability to heal and recover. As mentioned, undue levels of stress and injury can disrupt the vital nerve signals causing dis-ease and injury in the body. As chiropractors we aim to stimulate the nerves in the affected areas, therefore reducing the stress response and allowing your body to heal. As such we do not treat your symptoms that are causing you discomfort or pain (such as neck pain, lower back pain, IBS etc) but treat the under lying cause.

This takes time as your body must change and heal from levels of stress and injury which may have been present for a long time.

We primarily use adjustments, these sudden gentle movements act to stimulate the nerves in the affected areas, therefore allowing your body to function normally and return to health. This not only reduces your symptoms but more importantly your will become stronger, healthier, revitalised, re-energised and reinvigorate

What to expect

1st visit

This will usually last between 45-60 minutes. In this we undertake a full history and chiropractic examination to determine the underlying cause of your problem. Including a digital postural analysis.

2nd visit

It is important that you completely understand the cause of your problem, the steps necessary to correct it and the commitment to time and money involved Therefore your second visit consists of an outline from your initial visit and care plan.

Treatment methods

There are a range of treatment methods available in our office

Cranial sacral therapy

Works on ensuring the tiny sutures (joints of the bones of skull are moving freely, this ensures that there is no direct irritation on the nerves and also allows free flowing of the CSF the fluid that nourishes the brain. This uses the gentlest of pressures and is usually so relaxing the baby doesn’t know it is happening.

Spinal Adjustments

As the nerves are most sensitive at the levels of the spine, specialised manipulations are used along the level of the spine to restore normal nerve function, therefore affecting the tension within muscles, joints and organs. This aims to decrease pain and stiffness and overall allow the body to function at its optimum.

Thompson Technique

Utilizes a "segmental drop table" to enhance the motion of the segment or area to be adjusted, most commonly the mid-back, low back and pelvic area. Leg length checks, palpation and other appropriate may be used in determining where to adjust

Diversified

Adjusting of the spine uses specific lines of drives for all manual thrusts, allowing for specificity in correcting mechanical distorations of the spine. No instruments are used in the adjusting procedure. Motion palpitation and full spine, hands-on techniques are used to deliver a deeper thrust.

Activator Technique

Uses a low force adjusting instrument that ensures pinpoint identification and correction of a problem without causing discomfort or pain. Patients of all ages can enjoy the benefits of an Activator adjustment. The technique is especially helpful for children who sometimes have trouble lying still. The Activator adjustment is so quick and comfortable children often look forward to there next visit. Older patients, or those with arthritis, osteoporisis, or other bone-weakening conditions find the Activator method to be effective and gentle.

Deep Tissue Release

As levels of nerve irritation continues, this often causes huge levels of muscle tension. Relaxation of these muscle fibres allow a return to normal function this may include massage, trigger point therapy, muscle stretching, etc.
